Introduction to Fair Isle Knitting Class (Session 4 of 4)
Introduction to Fair Isle Knitting Class (Session 4 of 4)
My absolute favorite type of knitting (well, along with those Latvian mittens)! I’ve made more than a dozen Fair Isle sweaters and each one is a new adventure in color-work. They look intimidating with all those colors – but there’s only two colors in a row! These sweaters are classics and they never go out of style. Come join me!!
Students will receive a kit that includes 7 colors of Spindrift Shetland wool, 5 buttons, pattern and booklet. Over the course of our 4 sessions together we’ll knit a sampler baby vest learning all the techniques used in knitting a traditional Fair Isle. From doing a color swatch gauge, setting steeks, stranding colors, cutting the steeks and tacking down steeks each week students will learn a new element or technique as they work their way through the vest pattern. This class is suitable for experienced knitters comfortable with two color knitting techniques.
