2025 Retreat Information
Thank you all so much for signing up for the Spring Edition of the Rocky Mountain Knitters’ Retreat!
Dates: June 5-8, 2025
I’m excited to host a spring version of the Knitters’ Retreat this year. With the days getting longer, it will be lighter out and we will–hopefully–have more knitting time outside.
This web page was created to provide you with all the necessary information about the Retreat. I’ll be chiming in with emails over the next couple of months with updates, reminders, etc.
Bookmark this page and you’ll have everything at your fingertips.
While the Retreat is meant to be relaxing and you’re free to spend your time as you please, I want you to be aware of some scheduled times we have for meals, and events. There are also links to sign up for a massage and morning yoga – spaces fill quickly, so don’t hesitate too long!

Mindful Meditation
Barbara Scoville, fellow knitter, certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, and licensed therapist has graciously offered to lead a morning 30-minute Mindfulness Meditation on Friday and Saturday mornings from 10:30-11:00 in the Deep Powder House (DPH), located on the landing halfway between the lobby and the roadside entrance.
Daily Meditation Themes:
Friday: “Grounding into Presence for the Retreat”
Saturday: “Metta Knitting”
Massages
Lisa Neuhof with Riversong Bodyworks is back to offer massages and bodywork during the Retreat! A therapist/bodyworker practicing in Salt Lake City for the past 30 years, Lisa uses science and intuition to problem solve body issues using a variety of modalities. She can tailor your massage to your particular needs.
Her fee for attendees at the Retreat is $95/hour and you can pay her directly. Appointments are limited. If you’re interested in a massage, please sign up for a timeslot below.
Yoga: A Practice to Complement and Counterpose Knitting
Enjoy complimentary morning yoga with Sara Smith of Strong Balanced Solutions, who will lead us for an hour-long yoga session on Saturday and Sunday from 7:30-8:30 am before breakfast. All levels welcome! Mats and blocks will be available.
Classes will be capped at 12 students each day. Sign-up sheets will be available at the Front Desk upon check-in. However, if you know that you want to participate in either or both days, please email me to be put on the list in advance.
Yarn Swap & Shop
Saturday afternoon from 1:30 - 3:30 pm is our annual “Yarn Swap and Shop” in the Deep Powder House!
This a great place to swap/sell/barter unused knitting items or extra skeins of yarn. It’s also an opportunity to sell any of your handmade items (hand-spun yarn, hand-dyed yarns, knitting bags, etc)!
If you're interested in participating as a vendor, let me know by emailing me at lisa@basqueknitter.com so we can arrange for a table for you.
Sunday Brunch: Reminders
The Alta Lodge's famous Sunday Brunch is included with your Retreat. While we have the Lodge the entire weekend reserved for the Knitters' Retreat, the Lodge is open to the public for Sunday Brunch.
Some knitters wish to invite friends or family to share Brunch on Sunday. If this is the case, please make a separate reservation directly with the Lodge by calling 801-742-3500 or emailing frontdesk@altalodge.com. You will be able to leave the Retreat and dine separately with your group in the dining room or upper deck and return to the Retreat for more knitting & conversation when you are finished brunching.
Please respect the privacy of the Retreat by not inviting your friends or family to visit or join the knitters.
Transportation
Are you flying into town and need transportation to/from the Retreat?
Alta Lodge recommends Alta Shuttle as an easy, stress-free, and reliable option.
Cost: $92 roundtrip, including pickup at the airport. Departs every 20-30 minutes. Booking in advance recommended.
Special Dietary Needs
The chefs at the Lodge always provide the best food for us over the weekend!
If you have particular requests/needs for your diet, please fill out this form before your arrival.
Alcohol
Alcohol may be purchased at the Alta Lodge’s liquor store (the front desk person can take you downstairs to the “wine cellar/store” for wine or spirits).
Alcohol brought to the Retreat is fine, but cannot be brought into the dining hall for meals. Wine by the glass or bottle will be available for purchase during meals and added to your tab.
Guests
A reminder that this is a private retreat intended for us to have some great knitting time away from the real world! I ask that you please not invite family members or friends to join us for meals or knitting time during the Retreat, which formally begins Friday at noon and ends Sunday at 2 pm.
Odds & Ends
Gratuity for all meals, including Sunday Brunch, are included with your registration.
Please feel free to tip for any help with your luggage and/or housekeeping services at the end of your stay.
Some assorted items you can bring if you want:
Camp-style chair
Head lamp
Bathing suit – there’s a hot tub
Slippers – Yep, wear ‘em the entire weekend!
One more reminder that this weekend is all about relaxing! Pajamas are appropriate day-wear, makeup-free retreat, no alarm clocks, and t-shirts, sweats, & slippers are appropriate dress for dinner!
